For the Man Who Sits Under Trees

A love letter to the life I won’t compromise again

I’m not waiting for a man to rescue me.

I’ve done the saving.

I’ve walked myself out of grief, loss, and the ruins of a life I once called home.

I’ve poured coffee with my own hands, rubbed my tired feet, and whispered, “You’re doing okay,” to the woman in the mirror.

If a man comes, let him find me in my wholeness.

Let him arrive barefoot, or with dust on his boots, eyes full of wonder —

And let him say,

“This is beautiful. Can I sit with you here?”

Because the right man will not try to tame my nomadic heart.

He’ll say,

“Scoot over,”

and open a fold-up chair beside me.

He’ll match my pace — not slow me down, not rush me forward.

He’ll walk beside me, not in front of me, not behind.

I am no longer willing to fold myself small to fit into someone else’s routine.

I am not a backup plan, not a secret, not a side note in a man’s diary.

I am fire and quiet and sea wind and open road.

I am a nomadic grandmother with roots deeper than blood and wings made of grief and grit.

The man meant for me won’t flinch at my truth.

He won’t vanish when the conversation deepens.

He’ll pour us both a drink and ask what I’m dreaming about tonight.

He’ll touch my soul before my skin.

He’ll listen when I speak of Liam, of loss, of the old life I buried and the new one I’m birthing.

So yes — I will wait.

But not passively.

I will live like he is already watching from under a tree somewhere.

A man who values stillness. Kindness. Freedom. Truth.

A man who recognizes a soul like mine — and doesn’t run from its depth.

Until then, I will sit in my own light.

This is the life I chose.

This is the life that chose me.

And I will not go back to a routine that asks me to forget who I’ve become.

Daily Reminder for the Vision Board in My Heart:

💛 You are not hard to love. You are hard to fool.

💛 You are not lost. You are wild on purpose.

💛 You are not waiting for a man. You are waiting for alignment.

💛 And while you wait — you are living, beautifully.
